Great story. This is good news. If you think about it, most major cities have actually seen a drop in crime recently.

While this may have the appearance of good news; it probably isn't. The prison population isn't dropping because of a drop in crime, it's dropping because state governments don't have the money to keep the criminals in jail. We may see some negative consequences over the next few years.

Because the US has a growing population, it's actually only natural for the prison population to grow every year.
