Oooh, I love this kind of thing.

My paternal grandpa was from Prussia, grandma from Minsk, Belarus. My father was born in Poland, his birth village is now part of Belarus.

Maternal grandparents from England, great grands were Irish. Prior to that I believe Spain and France come into the picture, but don't have the details. My mother was born in Adelaide, Australia, as was I.

All of my family has been in Texas for at least 100 years (I won't bore you with all of the names of the small towns), but before that they came from various Eastern states, both North and South. If you name a country in Western Europe, I probably have some ancestor from there. One of my great-grandmothers was from the Coushatta Tribe (a southeastern tribe that migrated to Texas in the early 1800s).

Mom's side-
Great Grandma- Krakow, Poland (area of)
Great Grandpa- New Hampshire
Grandma- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Grandpa- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Mom- Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Dads side-
Great Grandpa- Susanville, California
Great Grandma- Utah
Grandpa- Oroville, California
Grandma- Elko, Nevada
Dad- Oroville, California

My mother's family is all of Polish descent..Most of them came over to Milwaukee from the southern and eastern regions of Poland (at the time Austria-Hungary and Russia) in the late 1800s. My great grandmother, was born in Poland but actually came over in the early part of the 20th century after serving as a nurse with the French army during World War I.

My father's side of the family (on his father's side) emigrated to the northern regions of the Sierra Nevada mountains of California in the 1850s via Arkansas and has been in California ever since. My great grandmother on my father's side was of solid Black Irish stock--her grandparents came over from Galway, Ireland in the 1830s and ended up in Iowa, while her mother was possibly of Native American descent from Texas. We've traced our family name back to arrival in Virginia in the late 1700s from England. Other branches of our my father's family go back to Prussia, Switzerland, and Native American descent.

My paternal grandmother was never sure of her true birth parents, but was adopted and raised by descendents of one of the oldest Mormon pioneer families in Utah.

Mom's side:
Great Grandmother (Grandmother's side) = Smock, PA, near Pittsburgh
Great Grandfather (Grandmother's side) = Don't know, but probably also near Pittsburgh
Great Grandmother (Grandfather's side) = Navarre, Ohio (SW Stark county)
Great Grandmother (Grandfather's side) = Navarre, Ohio (SW Stark county)
Grandmother = near Pittsburgh (but that part of the family moved to Massillon, Oh in 1950)
Grandfather = Navarre, Ohio
Mom = Massillon, Ohio (western Stark county)

Dad's side were all from Doddridge County, WVa. But, that side of the family also moved to Massillon, Ohio in the early 1950's. So, my dad was born in Stark County. (not sure if he was born in Massillon or Canton)

And, finally, I was born in Canton, Ohio.
