How is everyone holding up in their cities? It's terrible here in DC. Up to 20(at about 11 now) inches of snow with visibility of only 1/10 of a mile nearing complete white out. Buses are shut down, as well as all above ground Metro stations as of 1pm. Almost everything is closed including the Smithsonian for the first time since 1996. On the news there's pictures of people's abandoned cars on the streets. They are saying its the worst December snow storm of all time out here.
Coming from Milwaukee, it's still bad, but the reactions of people are much different. I was told it only snowed about 3 times out here last winter so most people aren't used to snow. Definitely don't want to be outside now.
Actually, it's more like a Mid-Atlantic storm. We aren't getting anything here in Syracuse. It's dry and cold. Cities in NC, VA, MD and NJ are getting hit hard though.

There's only a dusting here on the island so far, and I've seen tons of ambulances already. On my way home, i saw a car flip completely over on the highway. About 20 cars stopped and rushed over, it was insane. I would have stopped, but I was going the other way and not that close to it. It's chaos here when it snows, since it doesn't snow all that much.
In DC there the National Guard is out scooping people up on the streets after abandoning there cars.
Don't stop in your car to help others. It's only going to make things worse, especially when there's that many cars there. With near white out conditions, it's almost a guarantee for a big pile up. There's nothing useful anyone is going to be able to do anyway unless they are a doctor, fireman, or EMT. It's even worse when people drive by staring at the accident scene. There's been plenty of times where I thought I was going to be hit by a car while on scene of an accident. Sorry, just venting. It's kind of a big pet peeve of mine.
