I guess I'll start it. I was born in upstate NY. A small city called Elmira. I know that Hal Roach, who pioneered movies was from here. Ernie Davis, the running back who played for Syracuse and was the first black heisman is from here. He was in the movie, the Express. Brian Williams the news reporter for NBC nightly news is from here. Tommy Hilfiger is from here. Eileen Collins, the first female to captain a ship to the moon is from here. Mark Twain lived in Elmira for several years, although originally from Buffalo. For a small city in an overall metro of only about 100,000. They have there fair share of famous people. Some really famous. I dont reside in Elmira anymore and havent in many years, yet its nice to know that there are some pretty famous people from where I was born..

TONS of famous people from around here...

A couple of peoplle who grew up in my county are Baseball Hall of Famer Addie Joss and actor Fred MacMurray. The only person of any note from my home town was Harry Latina, who worked for Rawlings and revolutionized the design of the baseball glove in the 1950's,, making it possible for players to reliably catch the ball one-handed. Also in my home town is the original fullsize casting of the famous statue "End of the Trail"
