I like LA's skyline. Everyone seems to hate it, but I think the backdrop of the mountains and the height is rad.

But I agree that Seattle and San Francisco have wonderful skylines as well with the combo of both mountains and man-made.

I used the 2 choices because that is what I wanted in the poll and I though 2 examples of each was more than enough. If someone needed more examples they could look through the myriad of skyline battle threads on the site.

To waterlily: Buildings are/can be just as awesome as nature and matters just as much as nature!

To buzzpost: Buildings and creation by people can be as beautiful as nature.
To many people this would be untrue and was the reason for this thread.

I'll take a nice snow-covered mountain over a group of tall buildings that have snow on top of them any day of the week. It doesn't mean that I hate manmade skylines, though; they are a great alternative if I'm living in a place with few or no hills (or no beaches, for that matter).

I declare myself unable to vote in this poll, because I think natural skylines are almost too awesome for words...

But on the other hand, I live in a high-rise apartment building, and I can see the entire Manhattan skyline as a backdrop to an urban view that can only be described as spectacular.

I prefer the natural over the mandmade, but a good combination of both is best. That said, Seattle and San Francisco are not the only cities with beautiful natural backdrops. Cities like Pittsburgh and Cincinatti come to mind.
The area surrounding New York is very hilly and there is a TON of rivers, canals, harbors, etc....Manhattan skyline is the best in America for many reasons. From so many angles, from so many vantages, it remains interesting and awestriking. There are multiple coastal views because it's an island (as compared to someplace like Chicago which really only has the same one or two decent water views over and over. The sheer density and massiveness of the New York skyline is amazing. New York also looks better from within itself, looking out, than any other place in America. Only Hong Kong can compare.

I prefer natural. But there are certain skyscrapers that look really cool to me.

The Messeturm in Frankfurt
Fountain Palace in Dallas
One PPG Place in Pittsburgh
Bank of China in Hong Kong
...last but not least...
Willis Tower in Chicago

It might seem that way, but the vote result would say differently. Maybe the manmade proponents are just more wordy and post-happy?
