Call the immigration office but it shouldn't be too hard. My husband is from Ireland and he has had no trouble at all.

You will increase your chances of getting a remotely useful answer if you could tell us a little bit more about yourself...

- age?
- nationality?
- any dependants in tow?
- what line of work you are looking for and any experience or qualifications you have?

I'm afraid it's not as simple as just doing a serach on the internet to look for sponsors...

No its not easy to get papers to work in the USA. The government makes it as complicated as possible for middle-class English speaking people from other parts of the world to move here, and in their place fills the gaps with millions of non-english speaking poor people from Latin America.

Great system that we have going here.......

H4 is a dependant visa, and as such, the holder can NOT work in the US. You can't even register for a Social Security Number with H4 visa, which is needed in almost everything including opening your back account.

You can open bank accounts without a SSN (not all banks will do this but some will - you might have to hunt around a bit) however you can get a TIN (Tax Identification Number) which will suffice in place of a SSN for most purposes (apart from getting a job of course).

It is technically possible to get an EAD (Employment Authorization Document) if you're an H4 but be aware that this can take literally years. I can't remember off-hand what the process is or why it takes so long but if you do a spot of Googling I'm sure you'll find out. My H4 friend just got her EAD having been in the US for just over 5 years - I'm just not sure at what point she applied.
