Who knows what scenario? I am guessing it has something to do with Obama and was predicted by FOX News.

It probably depends on where exactly the asteroid lands, and how much of the alien bacteria is transferred to the surrounding landscape.

I'd assume the cities with the most shotgun shells and canned food would do best.

Food riots, tax protests, farmer rebellions, student revolts, squatter dig-ins, homeless uprisings, tent cities, ghost malls, general strikes, bossnappings, kidnappings, industrial saboteurs, gang warfare, mob rule, terror,".He forecasts the possibility of a civil war, and says if people want to see what Main Street America will look like, they should "drive around Detroit.

It's not a bad idea for a thread except we have to determine the type of "collapse". (Surfscuba's essay wasn't much help) Will it be a natural disaster or maybe a war or perhaps an economic collapse? Different places lend themselves to different scenerios. For instance in a nucular war or natural disaster I would choose a rural area in a southern climate away from too many people where I could grow my own food. In an economic collapse I would want to be close to Washington, DC. If it were a revolution I would want to be one of many in a faceless crowd in a big city.

I'll probably sail off to a nice quite Caribbean or Pacific outpost.

Away from FOX news, its fear mongering programming and all the lunatics that aaimilate their opinions from the "facts" that FOX spews.

hopefully both right wing and left wing (includes all of the rest) "news" would die along with electricity.

Assuming the OP is talking of financial collapse here in the states, I think being in the top 10-15 largest cities in the U.S. is where you won't want to be.

My best bet, the countryside will be much better off. (we may revert to a Waltons esque living, but we could sustain ourselves)

Peoria---well watered, rich soil and on a navigable water trade route that connects the Mississippi and Great Lakes. Such things will be important after the collapse.
