If not in Florida, you could try Savannah. It's a city with over 300K people in it's metro. Very walkable and lots of college-aged people walking around due to the Savannah College of Art & Design.

I feel the same way, however the only places in this country with REALLY good weather - as in sunny, hot, dry days and cool, clear nights (Southern European climate, as in lower parts of Italy, Spain, France etc) are in areas like San Diego and I guess parts of a few other Pacific & Rocky Mts states. But most places here are humid - I love Charleston, and I hear Wilmington is nice, & Savannah is lovely as well(no beach though), but they get mad muggy/steamy and that spoils the whole impetus to be outside! Raleigh is OK too, not as gorgeous, but nice - but again...After much research on climate, culture, literacy, diversity, safety, friendliness & proximity to an ocean, the best cities are.....Syndney & Cape Town. Plus the accents are sa...weet!

Let me know if you get interesting options. I was looking at a little city in CA called San Luis Obispo. Also Eureka. My sister is an ex-pat living in Milan, but no ocean and not great weather. The food sorta makes up for it, though.

Maybe even Jacksonville.
I agree. (Though it's much more the humidity, not so much the heat that makes FL so uncomfortable in the summer spring and fall)

How do you figure we don't have a beach? We're right on the Atlantic.
