Number 8 means you'll have to move outside the US or to a very small town. The changes in radio station ownership rules that were made in the 1990s have led to most radio stations in major cities and medium sized cities being owned by a handful of corporations. Those corporations are now in an era of cost-cutting, which means they save money by applying the same cookie cutter approaches to programming all over the country. The "crappy" programming in your current city is likely in every city that has stations owned by those same corporations.

and yes, you can find good radio stations in america. you need to be in certain areas tho with a variety of ppl, IMO. that way you get a variety of music.
Maybe Syracuse, but it does snow quite a bit. It's a pretty moderate city/area(city more Demo., while the rest of the county is more Repub.). It's has the arts scene and higher educational institutions, but it is known for it's blue collar character. It definitely has the trees and hills that the OP wants.
