Nothing tops Florida's panhandle. Pensacola, Fort Walton, Destin, Panama City...warm, clear blue water and sugar sand that doesn't burn your feet! Rhode Island has great beaches amongst cold weather states. Also, it all depends what your looking for in a beach. Maine and Oregon deserve props as well, but not in the way most first conjure when they want to go to the beach. Maine's beaches especially are beautiful in the summer for the rocky coasts and light houses, not mostly for laying out and swimming however.

Jamestown, Rhode Island, my favourite sea-coast!

And for more sand, Newport!

Hate to say it but New Jersey because it's got a good balance of activity and not boring. Also Myrtle Beach looked good and of course Florida. Never been out to west coast so can't say.

The beaches of the Rochester region on Lake Ontario are among the most beautiful in the nation (Not in winter of course!). On the ocean side though, the outerbanks of North Carolina and Padre Island are the best because they are natural and not severely developed like Florida!

Hawaii, then California. After that probably Florida or the Carolinas in a distant third and fourth place. Oregon has some of the prettiest beaches, but the water is ice cold and the weather is terrible.

California! Carmel by the Sea, Monterey, Point Sur, and La Jolla areas are spectacular in terms of great beaches!

Hawaii, Florida and California,- but only beaches that face south or west. Looking over your shoulder to watch a sunset is for losers. LOSERS!
