I am young and looking to start a family. I love NY but the traffic is a real pain and upper class is too large from millionaires to billionaires. Here is the criteria for my search:
-newer suburb; subdivisions, large homes
-up to $1 million for a home
-want it to have the best school district in that metro area, with community support in education and athletics, want a HS lacrosse team
-not a lot of traffic
-no NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, no Florida or southeastern states, no desert
-upscale shopping mall, do not mean to sound stuck up but I want my kids to look good
-must have places for teenagers to hang out
-if the city it is a suburb of is blue collar, that is a plus. My business requires physical work that is why so I need blue collar workers.
-snowboarding; does not have to be Aspen type mountains but if it is that would also be a plus
I know this is a very broad criteria, but I am looking at all options so throw them at me. If you know a suburb like this I would love to know. Thank you.

Lacrosse might be an issue in both of those places. AFAIK, only private schools in those cities have lacrosse. Snowboarding won't be possible anywhere close to San Antonio.
Lacrosse was big in Syracuse, New York when I lived there. The winters there are harsh and snowy, so I'm sure snowboarding would be available. It would definitely be a good place to find blue collar workers too. Some other upstate NY cities to look into would be Buffalo and Rochester.
Maryland is like New York with in being very big on LAX. Seems like a good place to start. Traffic to DC/Baltimore might be nightmarish though. Check out the main line Philly suburbs also.

In the Syracuse area, the Fayetteville-Manlius area would be perfect. Very good school academically, has a good Lacrosse program, is one of the most affluent areas in the metro, doesn't get too much traffic, has skiing close by, has newer development, has shopping close by and more. You might also like Skaneateles and Cazenovia too. Syracuse is an area known for it's blue collar character as well. West Genesee is a national power year in and year out in High School Lacrosse and is located in Camillus, just west of Syracuse. LaFayette is another Lacrosse power and is just South of Syracuse.

This is all true, except I would say that Lacrosse IS big in the area and it is not uncommon for kids to play Division 1 Lacrosse, as it is a hotbed for talent. In the Buffalo area, Orchard Park would be a good choice and near Rochester, Canandaigua and Webster would be good picks.
