Hi, I'm from small European country Macedonia. I am comming to the USA this summer for 3-4 months and I'm having hard time deciding which job offer to take. I'll be coming in June and leaving September - October.

There are many different job offers in many different locations around USA, but the least expensive and my favorite option is on the east coast. Job offers wary from working basic jobs in restourants, country clubs, amusement parks, hotels and many others.

But my main dilemma is in what town or city to go to. Few of the options are towns on Cape Cod: Falmouth, Mashpee, Eastham, Dennis and others, smaller towns around New York like Syosset or Armonk , New Jersey beach towns: Atlantic City, Sea Isle City, Ocean City, Cape May, Keansburgh, bigger beach towns like Virginia Beach and Myrtle Beach and many others and if anybody can help me with my choice i will be really thankfull.

My preferences. I'm 21 year old male which will be coming with 1-3 friends and possibly other Work and Travel applicants. I like adventures and fast pace tempo of living so my preference is a fast tempo town with lots of stuff to do. As i said i like the beach so a good beach with lots of activities to do on it like surfing or other sports like volleyball, football or tennis is big plus. Also a great nightlife town is prefered with lots of places to go out at night and to meet new people and girls.

Any help or information about those towns listed or any other beach towns on the east coast would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Virginia Beach might work due to many colleges being in the area, it is in a growing area that already has around 2 million people in it and it is in the middle of the East Coast. So, you can check out the Northeastern cities, as well as go further South and check out the scenes there too.

It may not be that inexpensive, but if it is excitement that you crave, I would suggest areas along the shore of Long Island or the Jersey shore north of Atlantic city along the Garden State parkway. You will be within driving distance of New York city and that is about as fast passed as you can get. Virginia beach is very nice, but other than the beach area, there really isn't much more to do. Myrtle beach is definitely not a happening place, as it is more for relaxation at the shore. Atlantic city is great if you like Casinos and gambling. Other than this, there really isn't much to do especially over a 3 month period of time and it is two hours from NYC. Ocean city has lots of large hotels, but once again all activities are related to beach activities. You would be about 2 hours from Washington DC, which has quite a bit going on. Many of the jobs you mention do not normally pay a great deal of money. I would suggest that you try to work in free room and board if you work at a hotel or large restaurant. You will need a car and I suggest renting one. Make sure you get the appropriate insurance and drivers license. There are quite a few Macedonians in the USA and contacting a church in some of the bigger cities may be a good source of information and help. Have a great time and enjoy your stay in our country.

Armonk is in Westchester County. It's definitely NOT a beach town. Very suburban and very wealthy but not exciting.

Atlantic City is not a nice place. Most of it is very run down.

Frankly, beach towns are not known for their fast pace. It's about relaxing on beach. If I had to pick a beach town to work in for the summer I'd choose Block Island (because it's so beautiful), but I don't know if that's an option for you.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah i know that beach towns are mostly about the beach. What i'm looking for are beach town that are less for family vacations and more with young people aged 18-25 where you can easily meet new people and have fun on the beach and on the boardwalks. Most beach towns are for relaxing atmosphere for family vacation, but i'm looking for the ones where you can have exciting summer doing many things like: playing sports (on the beach), watching sport events, concerts, movie theaters, going to amusement parks, going to instead of just relaxing and laying on the beach or in a room.

I have 20 more days until the job interviews and choosing a location so plenty of time to find out more about the towns.

Here are some of the better offers and not all are beachtowns, but most are close to the beaches. Any information about those places or job offers is welcome in the next 20 days. I'll go from north towards south.

1. Cape Cod - various offers in different towns, mostly restaurant cook help and retail sales in beach shops, average pay, high housing costs - I'm thinking of staying away from Cape Cod as it is mostly place for families and i doon't think there is enough stuff to do like in other places.

2. New York area - Armonk, retail in a moll, not a beach town, close to New York, free housing. - Syosset, country club worker, not a beach town, but close to the beaches, close to New York, by far best offers in terms of good pay and free housing - similar but worse pay in Locust Valley Country Club.

3. Keansburg NJ - Amusement park worker, low pay, but free housing, beach town, stuff to do, close to NY, really considering this offer.

4. Atlantic City or Wildwood - retail sales beach candyshop, average pay and housing

5. Other NJ towns - Brick, retail, low pay, expensive housing - Sea Isle city kitchen restaurant, low pay, housing, Seaside Park, same - Cape May, same - Beach Haven, housekeeping, low pay, free housing or retail supermarket, low pay average housing - Beachwood, very expensive housing - Ocean View, campground, RV park, average pay free housing

6. Food Lion Supermarkets - over 50 offers from them is various towns: Millville, Selbyville in Delaware, Ocean City MD, Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach, Oak Island, Emerald Isle, Avon, Corolla - OK pay, average to high housing.

7. Other South offers - Myrtle Beach, fast food, low pay, low accomodation, Ocracoke Island, retail sales, low pay average housing - and many other worse offers

Any additional information or suggestions about those towns and job offers is welcome. I'll consider everything before making my decision 20 Februar.

we went to bal harbour in wildwood crest every summer.
right on the widest and softest sand beach and far enough away for cleaner quieter beaches but close enough to the wildwood boardwalk a bit north for fun and action.
make way for the tramcar please!
point pleasant is the nicest area near nyc and very family-oriented and my sis had a condo there.
lots of russian and euro teenagers work the summer jobs down the nj shore.

I'm a Massachusetts native and my family has a vacation home on Cape Cod. It's a beautiful place, but I can't recommend it at all for a young adult looking for a fast pace. It's worth visiting, but I think you'll find yourself bored to tears if you lived there for 3 months. I would seriously consider looking JUST a bit further south in Newport, Rhode Island. It's an active, vibrant and fun seaside community with a bustling downtown area full of bars and restaurants. It has busy beaches and lots of international visitors and workers. It's also only 3 hours from New York City, 1.5 hours from Boston and about 40 minutes from Providence. You'll find that there is plenty to do in Newport and plenty of seasonal work. I'd post a question in the Rhode Island forum. You also probably won't need a car in Newport which is a big plus that most coastal cities can't offer.

There are summer job offers like this in the US for college aged people overseas?
