Not a big surprise. First off the democrat ran a bad campaign and was not the right person for the job. Also, that state already has health care so they do not understand why they need to support national health care. So it really comes down to 2 things, the economy and the candidate. If the economy gets better its good news for the democrats this year if not they will have big losses.

Massachusetts is arguably the most liberal state in the country, moreso than even Maryland or California in my opinion.

Not to mention Edward Kennedy, one of the most iconic Democrats in American history, held that seat since dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

If I were a Democrat, I'd be pissing myself right about now, as this, coupled with Christie's gubernatorial win in another extremely blue state (New Jersey) is a very very very bad sign.

If Republicans can win in the Democratic Party's intellectual and moral cradle, their political epicenter, than the midterm elections will surely shake things upside down in Washington D.C.

It is indeed. There are plenty of threads in Politics and Other Controversies that can be used to discuss it. Politics is off topic in this forum. Thread closed.
