My husband and I would like to be able to buy two condo or townhouses for under $50,000 with cash with at least 1 bedroom and 1 bath that wouldn't be in the slums and would have been built in the past 15-20 years. They wouldn't be something we would be looking to make a quick buck on and would be planning on keeping for years to come for ourselves and our family. I've been looking at Vegas and it works there (prices, family is fairly close by, etc), but I'd like more options. I'm not keen on a particular area of the States exactly, but ideally I would love to be outside, preferably within 30 minutes of a larger city. Weather isn't much of an issue: we've lived in Siberia and Dubai, so we've dealt with extreme weather, though warmer would be better than colder. I'd like to make a wise choice that would be beneficial in the future though, something that we could rent out, somewhere where the economy will eventually rise up again, etc.

I know that might seem a bit vague, but any suggestions help me a lot!
