El Paso, Las Cruces, and Tucson are cities I'm very interested in relocating to. I like those 3 cities because they are pretty reasonable sized (yet not too big like Phoenix), very warm, and have that authentic desert southwest feel. Albuquerque could be an alternative, but it does get cold there. Should I live in El Paso, Las Cruces, or Tucson? I am a 25 year old, single male, who works hard in the civil engineering field, but plays harder . One other important thing... Which of these cities have the best young, single women? I know these places have college girls around 18 to 22, but I'm looking for a bit older (25 to 30). Am I too demanding? Maybe.
This would be a pretty close call, but I'd go El Paso. I love Tucson, but with no state income tax and very reasonable housing prices, El Paso is a good deal (though property taxes are high). Stats indicate less crime in El Paso and the cost of living is lower.
I have no idea about the single women though. Any of the 3 cities would be a good pick.
there was a study done recently in the paper today and it ranked El Paso ahead of ABQ in the social scene, out of 104 cities studied, ABQ came in at #61, I do feel that it would be easier to meet a girl here than in El Paso though.
Definitely Tucson. It's nicer overall and if you need access to a very large city Phoenix is about 100 miles away. The University of Arizona is better that the schools in Las Cruces or El Paso.
I had to make a similar decision (Las Cruces vs Tucson). I ended up choosing Las Cruces. Something to keep in mind is that Las Cruces and El Paso are close to each other, so if you lived in one city you could still be connected to the other. I know NMSU has good engineering programs so that might say something about the job market for civil engineers.
Also, the average age of students at NMSU is 23, so don't assume all the college girls will be too young for you.
A big thanks to everyone who replied. Everyone was very helpful. I am leaning towards Tucson or Albuquerque. I know Albuquerque is much cooler temperature wise, but the city has a lot going for it seems like. I know I'm probably the millionth person to debate on these two cities haha. That must show how wonderful these cities really are.
