Say what?

Actually, i wouldn't say DD is readily available in CT. It's beyond readily available. It's so available that if i fart, the chances are pretty good that it will hit a DD sign. You can take them back to Mass. as far as i'm concerned. Their coffee is nasty and their food products are positively disgusting. I'm truly amazed at the kind of garbage that (reportedly intelligent) people in our region will buy/eat.

I take it back. DD is readily available in all of New England at least CT, RI and NH I know for a fact. Whenever I visit cities in the West, MidWest or South heck even DC and NYC they are quite rare.

I notice that the thread has gotten off track discussing their donuts. I think their strong point has become their coffee and even their breakfast snacks even though I prefer McBreakfast's though their accompanying Green Mountain coffee is awful.

I'd like to add mention to Honey Dew, another DD clone originally from MA. The only one I've seen is on the Mass Pike service plaza so I doubt if any exists elsewhere in the US. I've tried their coffee and it is top notch too.

Yeah, I've had Krispy Kreme doughnuts a few times, and all I can taste is the sugar. I was afraid I'd get diabetes for eating one. You may be onto something with regional tastes. In the South they like to add sugar to iced tea.

its a Doughnut. Deep friend dough covered in sugar. Its not supposed to be healthy, and most rational people know that.

How boring would it be if we were slaves to supposedly healthy diets?

LOL. I have no problem with eating a doughnut(OK, multiple doughnuts), if they're real bakery doughnuts, not that processed junk that DD and KK pass off as doughnuts.

There are DDs all around the Philly area. I think Krispy Kreme tried to expand here, but all the stores ended up closing.

Here's another local (New England) specialty: has anyone ever eaten a "fluffernutter" sandwich?
My mom used to occasionally make me one when I was a kid . I would have eaten them everyday had she let me (but she was a bit of a health-food nut who wisely would only let us occasionally indulge in the fluff).

I never cared for DD. The first one I ate at was in Florida and there are a few in the Pittsburgh area.

I like locally owned shops for doughnuts.
