I apologize in advance if this topic has been done before. I have noticed that many Arizonans tend to dress very casually, even when they should be dressed formally.

It's not uncommon to see people white collar workers wearing jeans with a shirt and tie and the women wearing flip-flops or open-toed shoes.

I know that on the East Coast people tend to dress a lot more formally in all circumstances. The question is how formal or casual do people dress in your area?

Even East Coast transplants in AZ always over dress. And their men wear gold jewelry.

VERY casual in San Diego too, a lot of white collar workers don't even wear a tie here.

When I am not working or doing anything related to work, I dress pretty casually. I ALWAYS have my crucifix necklace on, not as a fashion statement but because I come from a religious family.

People think that people in NY wear black all the time. That is completely false. Maybe outsiders get that view because there are many meetings late at night in NY. I had a meeting in Manhattan last night that I did not get out from until 9PM and of course I wore a suit... so I am sure some tourists saw me and many other late night workers coming from meetings and drew the conclusion that we wear suits 24/7.
