So me and another person are going on a road trip around the middle of summer to the southern states. Were gonna be going through east Tennessee, north Georgia, north alabama, middle Tennessee, and possibly the western parts of north and south Carolina.
Were pretty much spending a day in each state. Anybody have suggestions of things to see on our drive? We love the rural outdoors and pretty sights. Any suggestions?! thanks!

You will not find adventure by looking for it. Adventure will find you, if you leave yourself open to it. There is no billboard pointing to Adventure Next Right. Stick to back roads, Talk to people. Stop at yard sales. Pick up hitchhikers. Eat breakfast where farmers eat. For dinner, buy a rotisseried chicken and a loaf of french bread at the supermarket, and eat it at a picnic table in the town park. Buy a wildflower identification book and learn the roadside flowers. Stop in places far from traffic and lie on the grass and listen.

Yeah...but anyways. Back to the OP

You're covering some of my favorite areas of the South.

The is a bit to see...but to find out what would be best for you...where are you going to enter the South, and how long do you intend to stay? That will help us tell you where to go.

Based on the states you listed, Asheville, Greenville, Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville, and Huntsville are going to be your main city stops, as well as adjacent areas and places in between.

If you enjoy outdoor activities, I would highly, highly suggest the Chattanooga area, as well as anywhere in the Smokies.

For city activities, Atlanta is the largest city and cultural spot in the region, but you can also find fun in Nashville and in the smaller cities as well.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a can't miss and would factor in at least a stretch of it.

If it's scenery you want, I highly recommend Eastern Kentucky, West Virginia, Eastern Tennessee, Northern Alabama, Northern Georgia Virginia, and North Carolina. All within the Southern Appalachians.
