I'd say Atlanta is still at the top, but now it has to share the limelight with cities like Charlotte, Houston, Raleigh, Nashville, etc.

I agree with all of those. Maybe the Tidewater area of VA too. A sleeper is Columbus OH.

Anything north of the Mason-Dixon line? Plenty of states have rapidly growing black and other minority populations, including the Dakotas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Montana, Iowa, and other places that aren't the stereotypical "black meccas." I know I'd go crazy if I had to live in Atlanta or anywhere else in the South - no thanks.

Aside from Atlanta, none of the other places I listed are "stereotypical Black meccas." They have always had sizable Black populations, but that doesn't automatically make for a "Black mecca." And aside from Minneapolis and maybe Omaha and Des Moines, I'd love to see the cities in those states that have these rapidly-growing Black populations. Hopefully we're looking beyond basic statistics here (cities with low Black populations already don't have much to do to register a "rapidly-growing" Black population) and looking at something substantive.

We're doing just fine without you. But your preference doesn't change the fact that it is predominantly Southern cities which are magnets for African Americans. I also don't know what your animus is towards the South as if this were a monolithic region in every respect because it surely isn't, but that's neither here or there. I know these sorts of topics tend to ruffle your feathers to a certain extent, but you should try to chill with the thinly-veiled animosity. It doesn't really lend to a productive discussion, which should be our object here.

Dallas and Houston have been attracting blacks for so long. They are just overlooked; this isn't a recent event for these cities. Atlanta has just always had a larger black population.
