I know you can see both Philly and Trenton Clearly from the PA/NJ Connector Bridge on the Delaware river. For NYC/Philly on approches to Philly by plane in Jersey there are some places where NYC and Philly on either side of the plane are evident but this is with maybe 3000-5000 ft elevations.
I have also heard that about the empire state etc. i think you might need binoculars and clear weather
Maybe when the the Freedom Tower (1776 ft) and ACC (1520 ft) are finished - but they will be nearly 80 miles on a straight line so not sure if that is possible
That will be interesting when and if (ACC) those are completed since they will essentially be the two tallest buildings in the US separated by about 80 miles. I'd imagine it would be possible since judging by some of the other posts I have read the human eye can seemingly detect buildings about 80 to 90 miles away with the proper perspective.
If there were a decent sized high rise in Trenton with an unobstructed view, it would be interesting to see if one could see both New York and Philly's skyline from the same spot.

I bet you could.
My city's small skyline can't be seen from very far away because of the mountains.
Your driving south on I-77 or 79 and there is no sign of any kind of city, then you pop around this hill and there stands a beautiful downtown!
I took this from about 10 miles north of downtown Philly (with the zoom), but still within the city limits. Smog cuts down visability maybe 99 days out of 100.
If you can see the mountain's peak from Denver, you can see Denver from the mountain's peak. There is no doubt in my mind that if there was a really clear day, you'd be able to see Denver's skyline from Pike's Peak, 70 miles away.
The farthest I've seen Oklahoma City's skyline is from way up in OU's football stadium, 20 miles away.
This was taken from the I-95 HOV overpass which is about 15 miles north of downtown.
^ The overpass itself is over 100 feet high.
^ Taken from a cruise ship out to sea so unsure of how many miles but some have speculated at over 40 miles. The tall building on the left is the Four Seasons tower which is Miami's tallest.
This image of Downtown Tampa is probably about 15 miles away and you can see the skyline really clearly. You can also see it from across the bay from Clearwater, St Pete, or Apollo beach up 40 miles away.

You can see Charlotte with the naked eye from 40 miles NE of the city on Dunn's mountain park near salisbury on a clear day. I have seen pictures online from Grandfather mountain, which is about 70-80 miles NW of the city. But unless you are on a hill or a high overpass like the one on 485 south of the city you really can't see it from very far away because it is hilly and heavily forested.
