Its actually going to be SF Prop K on the ballot this november.

Quote:
The measure is opposed by Mayor Gavin Newsom, District Attorney Kamala Harris and much of the business community, who say it will attract unwanted criminal elements to the city and hamper efforts to fight human trafficking.

But it also has powerful backers. Placed on the Nov. 4 ballot after receiving 12,000 petition signatures, Proposition K was recently endorsed by the Democratic County Central Committee. The measure is also supported by Jeffrey Klausner, director of sexually transmitted disease (STD) control and prevention for the city's health department.

They don't want to spread STDs so they're debating the legalization of prostitution?

Awesome job, California, awesome job.

...because a legalized brothel never checks its prostitutes for STDs. Amsterdam is the heart of the AIDS epidemic and stepping foot in the state of Nevada puts you at the risk of contracting genital warts. What an idiotic statement.

Actually Las Vegas is the only place in Nevada where prostitution is illegal. Step foot outside of Las Vegas and you can buy all the hookers you want.

Yea its illegal there, but its still a huge problem worse than most cities in its size.. Nevada's legislature should do something about it, instead of the crazy bills they have during the session.

It's not like they would make it legal to pick up a chick on the side of a road, it's probably just allowed in a brothel or something like the Bunny Ranch, where obviously diseases would be tested for. San Francisco is like Americas Amsterdam, smoking weed is practically legal.

And you all wonder why some of us choose Southern California over Northern?

J/K, San Francisco definitely brings something unique to California and it makes for an interesting place to visit. I would not be surprised if this passed actually, but I don't think it would be a good thing for the city. This is a little to far to the left this time in my opinion, but we will wait and see what SF does. They always manage to do something interesting

I sure as hell hope not.

The only way I'd go along with legalization are in "brothels", actual establishments. I don't ever want to see street hooking legalized because of all the drugs and crime that is such a part of that world. Not that brothels wouldn't have this problem, too; however, it would keep it off neighborhoods.
