What is the most underrated national park? I vote for Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It's an absolutely gorgeous canyon with incredibly steep walls with great variation in the rock color. To see all the varios parks listed, click on the link...http://www.nps.gov/index.htm

Well, I'm not really sure what are generally considered to be the best parks, but one that probably isn't that I like quite a bit is Hot Springs, Ark. Now I'm not saying it compares to Yellowstone or Glacier, but it's a charming historic town with great springs and some nice little hikes. Kings Canyon and Sequoia are also very nice and not as oft mentioned as Yosemite. Bryce Canyon and Mesa Verde are also cool, and not as oft mentioned as Grand Canyon or some of the other Southwestern parks.
On my list to visit are two national parks which don't get much attention -- Badlands and Great Basin. Has anyone been to these parks? How were they?
Isle Royale National Park. Located in Lake Superior it is off the beaten path and is a beautiful place. Remote, rugged, and takes some planning for a trip there.

Yeah it is beautiful up there!
I also would say Kings Canyon National Park, as it is less famous than its better known neighbor Sequoia National Park, but I like it better.

I've been to Badlands National Park a few times, I think it's underrated and really only well known to people who live in South Dakota or in adjacent states. It's really a cool place, a very unique landscape worthy of seeing- but not worthy of making a trip half way across the country to see like the Grand Canyon would be.
I think another one that is really underrated or even little known is Olympic National Park out here in Washington. It is absolutely gorgeous, unspoiled and untouched- with temperate rain forests and jagged mountains that rise up from sea level to 8,000 or more feet.
Pretty much all of 'em in southern Utah, but especially Arches & Bryce Canyon. I hear Big Bend in Texas is very nice, too...but haven't been to that part of the country yet.
