Honestly, I think the only US cities with more than one or two easily recognizable architectural entities (awkward phrase, that) are New York, DC, Chicago and SF.

New York:
Empire State Building
Chrysler Building
Brooklyn Bridge
Grand Central Terminal
Woolworth Building
Verrazano Bridge
Rockefeller Center
Yankee Stadium
The Plaza

DC:
White House
Capitol Building
Lincoln Memorial
Washington Monument
Jefferson Memorial
Pentagon

Chicago:
Sears Tower
Hancock Center
Wrigley Field
Tribune Tower

SF:
Golden Gate Bridge
TransAmerica Pyramid
Bay Bridge
Alamo Sq. Row Houses
