Favorite state is probably North Carolina. Affordable living, down to earth people (too many New Jersey transplants though), beaches on one side, Smokey mountains on the other. Climate warm but not too hot, not too much snow unlike Virginia and Maryland where the winters are completley unbearable.
Florida is great to visit but not to live, same with California. Its a shame there's no tropical paradise without a regular hurricane season.

There are many other states with mountains and the ocean (Virginia and South Carolina to name a few), why is NC any different? Besides, North Carolina's 3 largest areas don't even have any waterways, which make the cities very bland and sprawling.
This should not be a surprise.....North Carolina is my favorite state. I LOVE it there, I love the mountains, waterfalls and it has the bluest sky I ever seen anywhere. The scenery in Western N.C. is sooooo beautiful. I love driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is a photograph around every turn.
Michigan is home, but I also like Illinois and Wisconsin. I generally like Pennsylvania and North Carolina, but dislike Florida and Georgia. My least favorite state is Ohio, but you know this already.
