Move to Lumpkin county
My husband and I reside in South Florida and are considering a move to North Georgia, more specifically Lumpkin county. (We love the country way of life but still need to be close to work.) Hurricanes, outrageous homeowners insurance rates and property taxes are among our reasons for leaving the state. Also, for me, teaching in Florida is very stressful due to heavy emphasis on state testing. My husband is an electrician with 25 years of experience... the bulk of which is in commercial and industrial work and he has a great job with a good company here on FLA... he would not be able to transfer. I have a a good friend living in Forsyth county who is also a teacher and she has continually sung the praises of Georgia since she moved. Lower cost of living, higher pay for teachers and an educational system that values its teachers. We visited recently and loved the area but are wondering if there's a downside to living in that area that we are unaware of. Are there job opportunities in this area for our professions? Any info provided would be greatly appreciated.
