Default relocating to Southern Georgia

Right know we live in a very small hamlet in upstate NY (only 1,500 residents), we are looking to move to a very small town in Southern Georgia. My husband is a police officer and we have two younger children. Some place with a change of seasons and houses with at least three acres of property.Any suggestions?

Virtual Home Tours by Obeo

You can check out the link to get some information on housing cost, schools, and aerial maps. I like the virtual tours of the houses available. I imagine you'll find a tremendous difference in the home price ranges of GA compared to the housing in NY. I live in Florida, but you just about can't beat those Georgia prices!

If I was going to move to GA, I would go north of Atlanta because it's so beautiful. but I think you'll enjoy most any area you chose.

My wife is from Thomasville in SW Georgia. 30 minutes from Tallahassee and 90 from Panama City. Far enough away from the weather. Growing from the influx of folks not wanting to go into Florida. Not a bad spot.

There's a nice town near where I live called Lakeland. It seems like a really nice town. They have murals on the sides of their buildings. It's about 20 miles from Valdosta I think. http://www.lakelandga.biz/aboutlakelandga.html
The only thing is that I've heard the schools aren't very good.

Land is pretty cheap around here.

The seasons mainly seem to be really hot, a little less hot, nice, two days of frost, back to hot.

I went to college in Valdosta. It was a nice town. Very close to the Florida line.

I vote for St.Marys/Kingsland area as the other posters. I do believe it is your best bet.

I think you have received some very good info on this post! Just stay away from Albany if you possible can. Been here 38 years and am soooo glad to be leaving! Of course, that's just me! (Dang, makes me sound old doesnt it?) I was only 2 when we moved!!!!
