Moving to Buford
Hello All,
I was wondering how the town of Buford will be for a married couple with a 15 month old girl. We are moving from California(Thank God) and it looks to be a great place to buy a home and raise A FAMILY.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,!!!

Hi Razormaid,
Buford is great. My wife and I have lived here for almost 9 years. We live right by the Mall of Georgia which has every restaurant and shop you can imagine.
We have loved living here and raising our 2 young sons, one of which is about to start Kindergarten in a few months.
There are great schools out here, great parks, golf, you name it.
We will be sad to leave Buford but we are moving over to Canton to be closer to our families soon.
Bill

I agree, I recently relocated to Woodstock (for job reasons)from the Buford area and we really liked it over there too.
They have great parks nearby. Mulberry Park is wonderful! Lake Lanier is close and so are the mtns.
Also the Mall is a fun place for kids and Atlanta is only 35 minutes away.
Good luck w/ your move. You'll get a lot of bang for your buck coming from CA. Check out the Hamilton Mill area.

Thank you!!
Thank you all for replies and insight.
I am looking forward to relocating. I am originally from Port Arthur Texas yet migrated to CA in the late 80's. CA has been good to me yet everyday it get's worse.
How are the property taxes there?
Thanks again!
Jason

I don't know what the property taxes are like in California but I assume they are a lot more than here, especially Buford.

Yep, Dacula is great. Right next to Buford. Hamilton Mill is a great community. My kids go to school/daycare in Dacula and we take our pets to Hog Mountain Animal Hospital in Dacula.

I live in Forsyth County on Lake Lanier. Forsyth County has an incredible tax base, with the lowest millage rate of all the surrounding counties. Great Schools too!
Good Luck!

Hamilton Mill has a bad rep with the neighboring communities. The kids in the neighborhood are spoiled rich wantabees. One was responsible for getting a great teacher at Dacula High School fired, their lifeguards were accused of throwing feces in the pool to sicken people and get out of work, friends of a drunk driver constantly vandalize their own neighbor and other neighborhoods (it was in the news recently). People that live there are super religious conservative.
