I do ALOT of work in and around Atlanta, and recently there has been a HUGE flocking to the towns south of Atlanta (down I-75). I am most impressed with Monroe county because of its down to earth country living, with very reasonable access to the big city. Its great!
Good place to live but any job of subtance is going to be at least an hour drive. This is not what you are looking for to get started but would be a great place to settle later.

Default How do people feel about inter-racial relationships in Newnan, Ga?

My family and I are looking to relocate to Newnan, Ga and were wondering how was the reaction to inter-racial couples. The town I live in now is okay with it and we have not had any problems. However, I was just concerned about how my children would be accepted.

Default Need to know where to move!

My husband and I will be moving this summer somewhere in north Georgia. We have never been there, but want to live somewhere with mountain views. We are moving from Colorado (too many blizards). We love the scenery though. We make a decent living here, so we are hoping to find a place in Georgia that has affordable real estate and where jobs will pay well. My husband is an Ophthalimic Technician in the eye care business. He works for a private Dr. so he will be unable to transfer to Georgia. We have 2 children in grade school, so good schools are important also. Is there any way we could have all of this and still have mountains? We really don't want to live in the city...but we don't want to be out in the middle of nowhere either!Any info would be very helpful-Thank You!

I am considering relocating to Norcross, Ga. What can you tell me about it?
Any info you can give me will be GREATLY appreciated. I currenlty live in Jacksonville, FL, so this will be quite a change for me.

Hi, I use to live in Norcross. What I can tell you is that Norcross is big, so it's hard to say how it really is. Generally speaking however, it has a mix of commercial areas, single family homes mostly situated in housing communities. There is a bus that runs on Buford Hwy, but you will nee a car there. Why do you want to live in Norcross, is it near a company that you will be working with?

The north Georgia mountains could be perfect for you. Towns like Dahlonega, Ellijay, Jasper, Blue Ridge, or Dawsonville are nice small towns with support services. They are also growing towns, so they are not stagnant. I work in the real estate business in Atlanta, and I visit those areas often for pleasure. Stay in touch with me and I could perhaps assist you as you fine tune your search. You can even go skiing in North & South Carolina, which are just an hour or so from there.

It has 96,000 miles on it, and yet it has been down to FL at least 15, maybe 20 times, it's been to D.C. and Virginia twice, it's been to Chicago twice and even to Minneapolis. Traffic is never a problem in Buckhead because everything you need is 5 miles or less from your house. Also, there are numerous awesome private schools sprinkled throughout the area, and a few award-winning public schools, too.
I like Katrinaj reply. I don't live in Buckhead, I live in what some people consider the "hood", just south of I-20, but I escaped the NorthEast suburbs, and living here, puts everything just 20 minutes away. I like it, but then again I am originally from Brooklyn, so this similar, in the aspect that you have to have some street smarts, but it's really not bad. Not a pretty as the suburbs, but it's closer to work, and I have my friends here.

Yes, traffic here sucks, but the cool thing about Atlanta is that there are many family friendly neighborhoods. It just depends on your needs and wants.

Default Got2bkidding!

Lookingatnorcross, Do you like gangs? Are you fluent in Spanish and a multitude of Asian languages? Then you will love Norcross. Let's just say if the Main St. area in north Jacksonville is still as bad as it used to be, well there is your comparison. Look north to Suwanee and Dacula or west to Alpharetta if you must live in the north Atlanta area. Hey, I'm retiring in 18 months; I'll sell you my house in Lawrenceville so I can get out of here ASAP!
