Default Moving To Valdosta Soon!

Hello, we are a 36/M and 36/F white couple. We are intending on moving to Valdosta. Can someone tell us what are the places in Valdosta to avoid as far as selecting a place to move to? What section of town is on the low end of the societal spectrum? We have been searching for apartments and can not make many decisions unless we know more about residents of the area. Area amenities and jobs are not as important as the people around us. We do not want to select an apartment complex or house that ends up being in an undesirable area. Currently we are disabled due to orthopedic injuries, however, we are both in college for environmental studies that will help us for when our maladies are corrected and we can re-enter the workforce. We absolutely despise where we live now-Hanover, PA due to the people and just general overall region up here. Basically, we picked about 12 cities ranging from the southeast to midwest and have narrowed it down to Valdosta or Lake City, FL with Valdosta being the first preference. Thanks for your help.

avoid anything south of hill ave (hwy 84) between I-75 and perimeter rd, and the east side of ashley st (hwy 41) between hill ave and perimeter rd. Imagine a giant L shaped area that you should stay out of.

are you going to transfer to valdosta state? there are plenty of decent apt complexes in the vicinity of the university, and several rental houses.

if you have anything specific in mind, mention it here and i'll tell you what i can about it, if anything.

Thank you for your response. One thing comes to mind currently to ask you. Do you know of any good landlords or apartment complexes, personally, that do not make credit a big deal and will accept two little dachshunds to go along with us? No, we are not transferring to VSU. We will be doing the online thing for Columbia College of Missouri.

not off the top of my head, i don't. unless they have changed their policy, when I was in college a lot of the apartment complexes around VSU did not accept pets. and its rare to find one rent to you without a favorable credit check. i'm afraid if credit is a problem, you may have to settle in one of the less desirable areas until you can get your credit fixed.

Well, we have been in contact with Lakeside Apts. and they said our credit should not be that big of a deal, unless we have bankruptcies or huge amounts of debt that does not include any medical, or student loan type amounts. Lakeside and Spanish Mission are similar in that policy it seems. Also, pets are accepted, unfortunately, with a good price tag for a deposit though.

Try Quitman. Quitman is a small beutiful city just about 10-15 minutes from Valdosta. It lies between Valdosta and Thomasville. Rents are inexpensive. You may be able to rent a house at about what it would cost for an apt. I lived in Valdosta and now reside in New York. Several years ago I purchase property in Quitman and I'm currently developing it. You can see my property and area attractions on my website homecraftdevelopers.com

Quitman is nice, but I don't think they'll find any suitable apartments. What is there other than woodmere?

Quitman has developed somewhat of a 'night life' since they passed the alchohol ordinance allowing restaurants to serve drinks other than beer.

As for your development; how is that going? The last time I went through there only two houses were built. I felt the only real drawback to its location was the fact that it backs up to "the circle". Do you think that affected it in any way? But Quitman is a tough market for new homes regardless of where you build. I see your old office is now a funeral home.
