Hello. Another Floridian here forced to move out because of HIGH rising insurance and taxes. Considering relocating my family to the Warner Robins/Houston County area. Everything I have researched so far sounds great. Headed that way for a quick visit to check things out this weekend.
Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom for me? Any information about good areas for a family of five, my husband and I have three school aged children, looking for, good, safe, family oriented areas to rear my children in. Any info will greatly be appreciated. Thanks so much!! |

My family and I currently live in Byron, which is like 4 miles outside of WArner Robins. We used to live in Warner Robins and loved it there, although the area we used to be in was getting quite congested, so we moved out to Byron which is bit more rural but we were able to get more house for our money there, too. There are lots of good areas very near, you have Kathleen, Byron, Bonaire, Centerville, Perry...all good family places to rear children.

South Warner Robins/Bonaire/Kathleen is a good place to look at. There are a lot of great schools around that area and some good neighborhoods. Any of the subdivisions along Highway 96, Houston Lake Road, Feagin Mill Road, and Lake Joy Road are very nice.
As for words of wisdom, Highway 96, Russel Parkway, and Watson Boulevard can get congested from 3PMto 5PM because of everyone getting off the base. There is also road construction going on because they are widening some of the more busy roads. There are a lot of locally owned restaurants so always keep an eye out for them, the food is better and cheaper and the service is so much better. I've listed a few here. For fun there is DJ's Galaxy Quest and Olympia Skating Ring. Sooner or later you'll end up going to the Museum of Aviation The Parkway Cinema shows movies that The Galleria doesn't show anymore (usually 1-2 months old) for $1. The Galleria is pretty good for a mall but the mall in Macon has more variety. There are two Wal-Marts, one on Watson and one on Russell. Perry has a Dogwood Festival in April and Macon has the Cherry Blossom Festival in March. In October there is the Georgia National Fair in Perry. If theatre is your thing there is the Warner Robins Little Theatre and the Perry Players Community Theatre. |

The was great deepgreensea I completly agree with every thing you said, downtown Perry is a great place to visit to get away from all the major city feel, its really nice, with great shops, and little specialty shops.

Southfield Plantation in Bonaire GA has some large homes for large families and good school zone. It is also County Taxes only.
