Just wondering if Fresg Air BBQ is still open in Jackson? How about Indian Springs State Park? My grandmother was born in Jenkinsburg and grew up in Jackson. She still had a house on the South River between Jackson and Covington when I was growing up. We would go 1 week every summer. One day during that week, we would go get sandwiches and brunswick stew from Fresh Air and then head to Indian Springs for the day. Never could get how people drink that nasty water. I haven't been back since she died and the house was sold nearly 10 years ago. Fresh Air sure was some good BBQ.

It was still open several months ago. Very good BBQ, and a cute waitress , though I thought the finely-chopped slaw was a little strange. Tasty, tho...

My grandmother moved to South Carolina and that's where I grew up and still live. I'll never forget the first time going there and wanting to know where the hash and rice was because that's what we have. She had to explain to us that in those parts, its brunswick stew...which I loved once I quit pouting about the hash and tasted it.

I pass Fresh Air BBQ on my way to visit family about every 4-6 weeks, and it always seems to have a good crowd. I don't think it will be going anywhere anytime soon.

Yup, I grew up in the area, anytime I go visit family I have to get some Fresh Air. Nothing can beat that BBQ IMO!!
Also Indian Springs is still there, it's a state park. I don't think it will be going anywhere either

Some friends brought Fresh Air coleslaw to my party just this Saturday, and it's still delish!
