Default Paulding County

I was wondering what people thought of Paulding County? Dallas or Hiram?

Paulding County is a decent area with decent housing and decent schools. Overall a C+ area.

Paulding county is a suburb of Atlanta so you should have asked this in the Atlanta room.

In my opinion, I would not recommend Paulding County as a place to live. I spent middle school and high school out there. The schools weren't that great. It depends on what you want. I personally don't like it because of the experiences I had in my childhood living there. Among them were racial tensions I had to deal with in high school and the fact that there wasn't alot for me to do. For me it was a big culture shock when I moved there from Marietta,GA. I spent Thanksgiving with my parents out there. I couldn't wait to leave because I had nothing to do. I basically became a depressed and cynical teenager out there.

Now if you like rural areas with alot of space, then maybe Paulding County is for you.

You've done this in other threads, and I don't know why you equate Paulding County with a rural area. It is only rural in the western and north/northwestern sections of the county. The eastern, northeastern, and south-central/southeastern sections of the county are suburban. Some areas are more dense than others. Some areas have a few pockets of undeveloped or open land, but these areas have enough development to be classified as suburban.

Paulding County was once a rural area, as was Fulton County. However, the transition from rural to suburban began around 1990 and the switch to suburban, at least in the eastern portions of the county, occurred in the late 90s, with further development and expansion to the south-central, central, and northeastern areas occurring since then.

The western half of Paulding is mostly rural because, not only is it farther away from Atlanta, but also because most of it is protected, as it is home to the Paulding Wildlife Management Area.

Perhaps you were a teenager when it was mostly rural. I don't know the exact time. I remember as a kid in the 80s that it was a very rural county. We had some people from our church who lived in Paulding County, and one of the boys would say it was boring, that all there was to do was to watch the trees grow and the paint to dry. Of course, he was exaggerating, but Paulding has seen a lot of growth since then.

Population change:

1980: 26,110
1990: 41,611
2000: 81,678
2010: 142,324

I lived in Paulding County in the late 1990s to early 2000s(1997-2004 specifically). I live in Cobb County now. Compared to where I live, and considering I don't have a car, Paulding County feels very rural to me, especially the parts of Paulding County near Dallas-Nebo, Ridge Road, Hiram-Sudie, Jimmy Lee Smith and that general area. I also have bad memories of the place, so I have a hard time not being slanted in my views.

Doesn't look rural to me.

I was talking about Dallas,GA. I haven't been to Hiram in a long time. The only time I go out there is to visit my family during Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the occasional birthday(and I buy most things in Cobb County before I go back to my parents place). When I get home, I don't go out much. That's what it looks like NOW in parts of Hiram.

Maybe I got the street names mixed up. Once I left the county, I pretty much never returned excepted to vist my parents on holidays. And I got it mixed up. I was thinking more of Villa Rica Highway.
