It's funny to see all of these people that are from Coral Springs, FL moving to Canton, GA. I too am originally from CS, graduated CSHS '91. We moved to West Palm Beach 10 years ago. We JUST sold our house, the closing is mid-Dec (after 13 long months on the market!) We have friends in Kennesaw so we want to relocate around there. I've been to Canton before and I liked it. But I have to agree with previous posters that Kennesaw has A LOT more to do as far as shopping, dining etc. But I don't want to live in a cookie cutter development. I love houses that have their own identity. Thanks for all the comments, good and bad. It really helps me make a more informed decision.

If you are looking for diversity than Canton is not your place. Moved here from NYC. Subdivisions are nice, but that's about all. People are very clickish and traffic to the city is awful. With all the nice homes the area is still very rural. Marietta Highway needs a face lift and more shopping. There is no adult kive here and no real indivual restaturants to have dinner or even a coctail with your spouse or significant other. No real shopping other than your normal K and Wal marts Target, etc. No flaghip shopping up here Schools are good, but North fulton has good schools also and is much more developed than Canton. Alpharetta is nice and a little bit more developed. We just put a contract on a house there, We are leaving Bridgemill. The subdivision does not match the town

Moved here little over 2 years ago and Canton is GROWING! "Flagship" stores are on there way to Hwy 20 on exit 19...construction is underway. I hate the city, personally. I moved AWAY from it on purpose. So we dodge a chicken or a cow every now and again...I knew that before I moved here just by looking around. Actually a little sad to see the acres of trees that were leveled for this new shopping area for Super Target, and Khols, and Lowe's, and Olive Garden...it's going to be very convenient to shop at since I live right down the road...but...sad to see the beautiful trees go. I don't find Canton 'clickish' at all! I met a ton of people here and they are by far the friendliest people I've ever met and I moved from living in Phoenix 14 years in an upscale, mulitmillion dollar neighborhood. My builder left a little to be desired, but, not the people! I find there is plenty to do around here. Yes, traffice stinks. But, live ANYWHERE around Atlanta or the perimeter...that's what you get! We knew that too before moving here. Take an extra dose of patience everday if you make the move to the Atlanta area. All in all...I give Canton 2 'thumbs up'! I love it here and never want to move!

graywolf73, I too graduated from CSHS in 91. We have lived in WPB for about 7 years (in the acreage) and are planning our move to Canton/Woodstock. It sure is funny to see all the posts of people moving from South Florida to Georgia!

Default Bridgemill

Wow, amazing! I too graduated CSHS class of '91. My husband and I moved to Bridgemill in Jan. of 2006. It's a beautiful subdivision. We should arrange for a mini class reunion! Feel free to ask any questions regarding Canton and/or Bridgemill or surrounding areas. Good luck to all.

Default What about the Mitchell Farms area?

My wife and I currently live in Roswell (in general proximity of the intersection of Hwy 92 and Crabapple Rd). The location is great and our backyard is very private and parklike. However, we need a bigger house and are concerned we won't get our $$ back if we build out this house. Plus, we hate living in Fulton County and paying all these exorbitant taxes for wasteful spending on things we see very little benefit from (Marta, Grady Hospital, etc) and see no hope of getting investment in mass transit initiatives up the GA 400 corridor.

So we are looking for a place in Cherokee County. We want to insure that we have privacy and enough buffer to protect our property values into the future. So we are looking for acreage with a home. However, we have found the private school here in Roswell we absolutely want to keep our son in, so we need to say in the middle of the county (closer to Roswell/Alpharetta and not close to SR 20 or I-575).

We have been looking at homes near Gantt Road and in the Mitchell Farms area (Liberty Hill Rd, Iron Mountain Rd, Tellico Rd, Chilhoe Rd). Almost all of these home are on 5+ acres.

Does anyone have any information that we should be considering for why we should not look at homes in this area? Better yet, does anyone have information that would confirm our looking in this area?

Thanks for any help or feedback you can provide.

Default What do you think of Mill Creek Subdivision?

My family and I are hoping to move to Cherokee Cty in June 08 and were looking into Mill Creek, Harmony on the Lakes, and others. What do you think of these communities and can you recommend any others? We do not want to spend more than $250K.

We've lived in Cherokee County since Jan. of 2007. We moved to Bridgemill. There are some houses in this subdivision in your range. Also, Rivergreen is a beautiful new development. The houses are very nice. You will find resales and new construction there. I am not familiar with Mill Creek. Hope this helps.

We live in a Pulte home in Harmony on the Lakes and we love it. It's close enough to shopping, yet still rural enough that the kids drive past cows, donkeys and alapacas on the way to school (it's the little things that make life fun....lol). Holly Springs has a very good masterplan in place that will keep the area from becoming an overcrowded mess like some areas of the Atlanta metro, while still allowing for growth to take place.

If you're looking to stay under $250k, check out the Malloy homes toward the center of the development- they've got some really nice floorplans. If you need something larger, Pulte has two subdivisions with prices under $250k (though adding a basement may push you over your budget), and their options are very reasonably priced compared to many builders.
