It was announced in our local paper today that Caterpillar will construct a plant between Hwy 316 and Hwy 78. It will employ 800 people by 2013 and 1400 by 2020. It will create around 4200 jobs in the area by 2020.

Athens Tech will train plant workers.

BTW, do you know how much of this Orkin tract is in Clarke and how much in Oconee?

Sorry, i do not know. I think the local governments gave up a lot for this though.

It is some distance from Atlanta.

Speaking of the Orkin tract... 2/3 of it is in Oconee county and 1/3 in Athens-Clarke county.
