Default Moving to Athens/Arnoldsville

We are moving from CA to Arnoldsville, GA via Athens. We have land and will build, but will live in Athens during the building process. I am unable to find any information on ISPs/ Cable/ Satellite companies that service Arnoldsville, that we could use in Athens and then transfer the service to our new home. We are concerned that any that would be available in Athens would require a contract and then would not be available in Arnoldsville. Any advice would be appreciated.

Charter services Athens. I believe Alltel services Arnoldsville. You would need to speak to them and find out what your options are. Of course they demand contracts it seems. Perhaps your best bet would be Dish. Might speak to them as well. We get our internet and TV thru Charter here in Athens and our phones through ATT.

Good luck on your move.

Default Thanks so much

I just checked the Alltel site and put in the Arnoldsville zip and they don't service there. Our son lives in Athens, but is in HI right now on AF Reserve duty, so I'll have him check. All the cable companies want a street address in addition to the zip to let us know if they service the area and of course we don't have a street address yet -- we don't even have a STREET!! You may be right and Dish is the way to go. When we bought the property 6 years ago there was no cable in Arnoldsville, so maybe that's still the case.

Windstream took over Alltel's rural Georgia area a few years ago. Windstream now services most (if not all) of Arnoldsville. Cable hasn't really expanded in the last decade or so. If it wasn't available then, it's probably still not available. But as you've found it is very street specific.

Default Thanks!

Thanks Hal -- looks like Dish is the only way we can go. Unfortunately, our deal on the house here in CA, fell through, so we're back to square one. At this rate the entire country will be cable ready by the time we get there and get the house built!!
