Thanks for your help!

Unless you live on top of a mountain, snow is an unscheduled vacation you get maybe once or twice a year. Enjoy.
There might be jobs, what are you looking for?

I grew up in Marietta, which was really nice and had great schools. I think it has gotten way expensive now, but I have friends that have moved up into Kennesaw and Woodstock, which they love! FYI- LONG commute into the city though!

irvm - thanks for the quick response - my husband works for the Palm Beach County School Board (non-instructional) as a trades helper, which means he's a jack of all trades in building maintenance. I work for a bank, but unfortunately, there aren't any National City Banks up your way, so no chance to transfer. We're in our 50's and hoping to find a place to relax as well as work, and when it's time for retirement, we want to be comfortable and settled in our community.

A majority of the cities focus is to maintain a stable college community, which is does like no othe city in Georgia. Crime is low, and education is high, but the market, things to do, and other aspects of the city are tuned primaril to the college life, not the life of raising children, or being raised. Im not saying its a bad city, because its far from that, but its not really for Jazzrose who has 2 kids, 8 and 2 years old, and a wife. If you disagree i'd gladly hear out what anybody has to say.

On behalf of a better life for the grandchildren and their schooling, if moving close to Ashburn, you might want to be more in Lee County or more toward Tift County. If moving into the Swainsboro area, it would be better for them to move within 30 minutes of Dublin or within 30 minutes of Statesboro.

Both jobs sound portable. Because of the influx of people from wherever, the previously-small towns in N. Ga. are having to build schools like crazy. That means new, modern classrooms, and no doubt jobs will have to follow. Banks are springing up for the same reasons.
Of course, this isn't Palm Beach, but the scenery and cooler weather might be what you're looking for. Come to Atlanta and then head north 30-60 miles.

We are a bi-racial family (Black and hispanic)and really want diversity within the community we choose to live in ( somewhere nice but not to dead)We really want to be close to the city of atlanta so we wont be bored out of our minds ...but the most important thing is the schooling and saftey of our kids.
