You'll also want to consider other factors. South of Atlanta is hotter, flatter, more agricultural.
North is cooler, more scenic, less farming, more chicken houses. More tourists and transplanted Floridians. I feel less isolated in the north; Chattanooga, Atlanta, and all kinds of recreation areas (mountain hiking, white-water rafting, etc) are fairly close by.

I don't think you'd find it there. We'd look for about 4 months and were unable to find anything on 2 acres for $250K in Columbus that was 4 bedrooms and not a mobile home. Maybe LaGrange?

2 Acres New Construction
1068 Mosely Rd in Byron GA has 2 acres, built in 2007, over 2300 sq. ft and is priced at 204,900. I am not the listing agent, but I thought this would answer your question.

LaGrange would be about an hour and 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta, I suspect.

LaGrange is about 1 hour 10 minutes from Downtown Atlanta. The travel distance is approximately 65 miles.

I would count on more than 1 hour 10 minutes during rush hour which lasts a few hours in the a.m. and a few hours in the afternoon/evening.

Thanks for the info but just curious as to know is LaGrange the only small city within commuting to Atl that is still affordable?
