I don't know about the kids, but we choose Jasper. Love the small town and the surrounding countryside. We can't wait to move.

toward Loganville if east, toward Carrollton if west, toward Dahlonega if north, toward Forsyth if south. All 1 hour or more from downtown, but that's what you'll need if you want a nice, small town that is not destined to change overnight.

Locust Grove Georgia is a nice area thats really up and coming and is about 29 miles outside of ATL off of I -75 exit 216. there are alot of new communities that have been built and the houses are about the median home price ($200.000 +). It's also next to Mcdonough Georgia, also nice.

I vote for Jasper!! We live there 3-4 days a week (kids grown)in our mountain home right outside the little town! It is gorgeous and so peaceful. Still have to work in the city, so we have an apartment in Dunwoody, but hopefully we can be full-time up in Jasper in the next few months! Very people friendly!

What do you mean by small town? For example, Athens is a small town, though it pretty much centers around the University of Georgia.
