Default Next GA city and county to consolidate?

With the recent consolidation of Macon and Bibb County making 4 of the top cities in the state (along with Columbus/Muscogee, Athens/Clarke, Augusta/Richmond) consolidated city/county governments, what other cities in Georgia would be candidates for consolidation?

Hadn't thought of that one, but would be a good candidate.

A good candidate would be where the county seat is the only town of any size and where the county is duplicating a lot of the municipal services. A county with a smaller geographic footprint would be a plus for consolidation as well.

I think several of the smaller metro Atlanta counties should consolidate. My top three would be Douglasville/Douglas, Conyers/Rockdale and Cumming/Forsyth. No other incoroporated towns in any of these counties, all are developed enough to have municipal services needed for the breadth and width of the county.

Brunswick is a sleeping giant. It has it's own port, a busy section of interstate 95, beaches, Jacksonville and lovely Florida not to far away, A natural harbor look, and space to grow. Give it some time.

My step sister lives on St. Simons and loves it. Just not sure the county would want to merge with Brunswick. Any reason you see they would want to consolidate?

Dalton-Whitfield County charter panel still studying merger | timesfreepress.com

There's articles of Dalton and Whitfield County but it has been slowed. That would push Dalton over 100,000 people surpassing Rome as the largest city in NW GA by far.

The state needs another successful consolidation . We haven't had that since Columbus.

The next one will probably be Albany. Been looking at doing so for a few years now...

In addition to Albany, Tifton has also discussed joining with Tift County.

Also Rome and Floyd County have talked about a merger.

Albany is NOT growing. I think Valdosta and Brunswick would be a better choice. This will also help the South Georgia region
