Where to live South of ATL North of Macon
I am relocating from Minneapolis, and need to find a good place to live South of Atlanta. I live in the city now, but have heard too many bad things about Atlanta, so Im looking for something outside of there. It has to have malls a TARGET coffee shops etc. Of course low crime and reasonable rent. Any suggestions? Preferably off I-75.

You may wish to look at Henry County, which is growing rapidly enough to support some of the amenities you mention. Southwest of Atlanta is Fayetteville and Peachtree City, with Peachtree City making U.S. News' list of top 10 retirement communities in the U.S. But most of these areas may still be a little pricey for you. Peachtree City is not known for its rental properties, but for its bike trails and golf carts (for family transportation off-road).

And by saying "off I-75", do you mean far away from this corridor, or "on I-75" and vicinity?

I need to be near I-75. I also need to be within 45 mins or so of Jackson/Barnesville. But I dont know if I would do well in some of the tiny towns surrounding it. HELP!!!

I still say Henry County or Fayette County(which is near the I-85 corridor and not more than 30-40 minutes from the airport, if that is the true transportation aim). These 2 counties are attached to the metro area enough to keep you from being disconnected from all amenities, yet within 45 minutes of Jackson and Barnesville.
Both counties have Target stores, BTW.

Reason: Target store locations

Fayette has Fayetteville and Peachtree City, as previously mentioned. Tyrone is slightly closer to I-85 and the airport. It is small, but you would be able to commute to the other 2 cities within 15 minutes.
Henry has McDonough, Hampton, and Locust Grove. And just over the boundary in Clayton County is Lovejoy, which is very proximate to I-75.

yes Henry county has what you are looking for.. McDonough, Hampton, Locust grove ... I would stay out of Clayton county if schools are going to be needed IMHO..
There are a ton of rentals both houses and apartments in the area also. Good luck
