Looking for Elementary up to high school any info on which area is best? That would narrow our search for our home that we will be buying in the spring

I'm relocating there myself. No help with the schools for you, but if you know where to point me to find a place to rent, that would be helpful!

Hi,
The schools in Blairsville are actually pretty good. I researched this about a year ago and they were #2 in the state - tied with Fayette County. This area is growing by leaps and bounds, though, so be aware that the schools are starting to become a little more crowded. I believe there were 17 Kindergarten classes (20 or slightly less per class) this year. There are 2 teachers per class (I say teachers, but only one is considered a full-fledged teacher, according to the State; the other is a Para-pro", which works out to be the same with kids in my son's age group).
The thing I love about life up here is that the kids seemed to be more disciplined and less materialistic. We moved from an Atlanta suburb and the kids drove around in golf carts and were very disrespectful. This may change with all of the Floridians moving up, but for right now, it is like that.

The LAST place you want to send your kids is to a school in Blairsville. The biggest problem is drugs, but unlike most places where they are fighting the drug problem, the school superintendent hired his son - actually put him on the payroll, who has no qualifications to do anything, until his son along with his passenger: the son of the head probabtion officer, were caught when they landed a plane of dope at the Valdosta airport in South GA. Undoubtedly the drugs were headed for the high school.
After 10 years in Blairsville we gave up. Its a haven for retirees, dopers and meth addicts and pretty much no one else. There are NO jobs... ZERO. It may be the only place left where the KKK and the Masons (virtually the same membership lists) are the most active organizations in town.

The further you go out from Atlanta, the worse the schools get. The ones up there are pretty horrible (with very few exceptions) If you like the area, I would consider either a private school or home-schooling them.

I don't know if i would say the further you go out from Atlanta, the worst the schools get. For example, I would say the schools in North Fulton are better than the schools in Atlanta.
