Cobb County is a suburb. Sure there are a couple of "mountains" in the county and rolling hills throughout, but you are going to get that rural, mountain feel living there. The rolling hills are covered (or soon will be) by subdivisions, and development goes right up to the "mountains." The other places you mentioned would be a much better place to look if you are looking for the rural, mountainous way of life.

On the other hand, the county is growing at a tremendous rate so I'm sure there are plenty or opportunities for teachers and mailmen.

dawsonville is on a distinguished road
Smile N. GA Mountains

Dawson County (north of Atlanta on GA400 about 60 miles) As you top a hill on 400 going North at the county line a beautiful panoramic view hits you.

Dawson has mountains, woods, trout streams, Lake Lanier, Amicalola Falls State Park.........but is close and convenient to Atlanta and closer areas for shopping. Great schools, great post office(my wife was a carrier there)

We had to move to Ocala, FL to take care of the wife's mom, but still have a home there with 3.23 acres of woods. I know a lot of the locals in Dawson if you want more info.

It's a great place. I'd move back in a heartbeat.
