Default Jefferson - Small Town USA

We have recently bought a new home in Jefferson to be closer to our sons ,daughter-in-laws and grandkids from south Ga, Having less traffic is great and if we want a mall to go to, the Mall of Ga is just a few miles down 85 to Buford. We don't need to turn Jefferson into a small Atlanta. If one needs a lg city to live in move to Atlanta or elsewhere. Everything you need is within a few miles of Jefferson.

The light went up at the Kroger because one of their employee's tried to beat a semi across 129 and lost. He was killed. Poor planning on the counties part not to put one in BEFORE the Kroger opened.

Jefferson is a small town, I agree we don't want it to ever be a small Atlanta, but I do however feel very strongly about having a few more choices for shopping such as a Publix, a Walgreens and a Walmart. Mall of Georgia is nearby...but it is still a drive. Having one of these stores here in town would be very convenient.....

As for the light.... I know of several deaths that occured before the light went up, and since last Wed. when the light began working, there have already been 3 accidents with injuries....thankfully, no one has died. Now they need a temp flashing light so that people approaching the light will know that a light is coming up.

It was poor planning on the city's part, I don't think the city is ready for the huge amount of new residents. It's growing very quickly.

So where is everyone???? I am at Rivermist Plantation, Jefferson GA

I totally agree with you on the shopping options. I like to have choices. We live in Jefferson Walk. As for the red light, I agree they do need a flashing light alerting drivers to a new red light and maybe reducing the speed from 55 mph. As for the Redd House, our neighbors say it is good.

Default Jefferson Info

Thanks to all who have posted info regarding our community of Jefferson. It is a great community, my dau-in-law loves the middle sch and high school in Jefferson. They live in Mallards Cove close to Jefferson Walk. It would be nice if the state/local officials would put in a red light at 129 and old swimming pool road. My grand dau drives to sch and I just hope and pray that she does not have any accident crossing through that intersection. We live on Ashebrooke Way. It would be great to meet some retired military in the community since Iam retired from the Air force. All the Best.

Mallards is the community before mine on old swimming pool rd. I doubt they will ever put a light there. Getting a light by Kroger took forever and I seriously doubt they will consider one for us. Too bad, because it would avoid soooo many accidents! My neighbor had a pretty bad accident crossing, but she was being careless.

I do agree that it is OK for Jefferson to grow, but we need to stop allowing so many houses to be built and find a way to attract more businesses to town. I am so tired of seeing McMansions go up on every corner in Jackson Co, but not seeing a movie theater or Target being built!
