Hi. I plan on moving to georgia with my boyfriend in a few years. We want to love somewhere where he can play a lot of golf and somewhere where we can also have horses. We also love to fish and would love to live by a lake but it's okay if we have to drive like 20 minutes! We want to live somewhere that has great schools for when we have kids and start a family with lowwww crime.. I was thinking about evans, Georgia but I can't find any homes that have horse property??i wouldn't want to live in Augusta.

Thanks!!! As many cities and information you can give me would be great

Check out the Lake Oconee / Lake Sinclair areas between Milledgeville and I-20 (about midway between Atlanta and Augusta). Particularly Putnam, Greene and Baldwin counties.

Madison / Morgan County has repeatedly been named one of the best place to live in America.

Hamilton, north of Columbus, has some nice horse farms.

Milton GA. Not far from Atlanta at all, and our town emblem is a horse. This is close-in horse country, with excellent school. And we have plenty of golf courses.

Pike County got good schools, no traffic, great fishing, all types of farming and hunting spots all over the county plus surrounding counties. Its part of Metro Atlanta south about 45 min and about 50 min or less to Macon and 1hr 15 min to Columbus

I am a Pike County native, born and raised there. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. The schools are great, the crime rate is low, and the people are friendly. They have a golf course, as well as, property suitable for horses. We decided because of the economy. If you don't have a problem commuting it is perfect for you. Depending on the type of work you desire, local, good-paying jobs are few. Good Luck! Hope you find the perfect place!

I am thinking about Georgia, too, but I want to know where there are areas of lots of pasture and horse farms. Not all trees, leaves, and sand.

Any recommendations? I used to live in Marietta , and that is all burbs. North is Dalton? Is that green grassy areas? My brother said Pooler, but that is all sand and trees. What parts of Georgia are green pastures rolling hills...you know. horse country?

The closest thing to true horse country that one will probably get in North Georgia is in places north of Atlanta... Like in parts of North Fulton, eastern Cherokee, northern Forsyth counties, and to lesser extents in Dawson, Lumpkin, Hall and White counties.

There may also be a few horse farms east of Atlanta in parts of Walton County and out near Athens.

Though, I don't think that one is quite going to find the high concentration of horse farms that one might find in a state like Kentucky around the Lexington area, for example.
