Default Is it hard to get a permanent teaching job in northern GA??

I ask this because I have heard in E.Tenn area, not only is it hard for you to get a teaching job-I guess more teachers then jobs, but if you do...most likely you won't have it the following year.

I am planning on coming to northern GA in about 5 years, but I need infor. about whether or not it is hard to obtain a permanent position. This would be anyplace up north...in a good school district (I have my own children)....near the mountains areas...it doesn't matter if NE or NW or just plain ole north!

No-- depending on what you teach, of course, teaching jobs are fairly plentiful.

I am not a teacher, but just looking at all the brand-new schools being built
in this area, I'd guess they aren't going to leave the classrooms empty.
Start looking about 50 miles north of Atlanta. Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin, and Union
counties would be a good start. Job postings are usually found at www.[county].12k.ga.us (broken link)

It depends on where you go and what you teach. I went to school in Forsyth County and my mentor was the language head who was in charge of new hires for the school and she often said that the language department was one of the few to hire. Science and math are similar. If you teacher Spanish, science, math, or special ed you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Since there are more English and social studies teachers out there in general, it can be harder to find a job.

Yes! I am an out of state candidate and have been searching since January of 2011...with no luck! I have 10 years experience in education....teaching science, as well as administration. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Try Atlanta Public School, They need 100 teacher to replace then ones removed due to the cheating scandal. Mostly at the ES & MS levels.
