Default Where is a great place to live and teach in Ga?

I have two adopted children from Central America but where I live in Alabama, all Hispanics are considered illegal. I want my girls to be proud of their heritage and go to great schools and I want to teach in a good school. I am a Kindergarten Teacher. I would love to move this summer before my older child starts school. Please help!

I have sent you a direct message, but try to find a school that has some diversity, so your kids aren't the only non-caucasian children. I think some of the intown schools, like Mary Lin, with very liberal parents, might work well too.

Woodland Charter in Sandy Springs comes to mind as a community with open minded parents as well.

Fernbank in DeKalb has pretty open minded parents as well.

Come live and teach in the Great Delta Pilot Ghetto , otherwise known as Peachtree City, GA. Great upscale community.

Griffin is great; Maybe Newnan, Fayetteville, Pike, Lamar, and Henry County. I teach in Henry County.

Both of my parents are retired educators. Gwinnett County has a good reputation among educators and good pay; it is also very diversified. Henry county is another good county for educators but the southern end and less populated/more rural areas of the county are places you might experience intolerance.

I really believe Gwinnett would be your best bet. They really produce well-rounded students and fund all aspects of their schools, as opposed to just their athletic programs. Good luck.

It depends on what YOU want as a teacher. If you REALLY like making a difference I would suggest you teach at an inner city school. Inner city schools are in NEED of good teachers who actually care. You could live in a suburb or nicer communities of Augusta, Macon, Savannah etc. and teach at schools inside the city limits so no need to worry about crime as some people would tell you. My mother and two of my aunts are teachers and I know just how much of a difference it makes to some inner city students that are actually trying to learn when they know they have teachers that really care for them.

Teach in inner city Augusta, Macon, or Savannah? Only if she has a death wish.

I agree with the comments that you don't want to teach in city schools like Savannah. Sounds like you have enough on your plate. You might enjoy teaching in Suburbs of Savannah like Pooler, Effingham County, or Richmond Hill. Atlanta is it's own little mess. You may want to consider coming south. Camden Co. (on the FL line), consist of St. Marys and Kingsland, has very good schools.

I saw this list and started reflexively humming that old "Sesame Street" chestnut "One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong...."

Newnan, Pike, Lamar, Henry...all quality schools.

Fayetteville? Check out the state of Georgia's report card on Fayette County High School (where Fayetteville folks go) and Fayetteville Middle School. Highest number of fighting incidents of just about any school in Georgia. Rough places to teach.
