Hi, I'm a 26 yr old AA woman, moving to Georgia from Chicago with my wife & our two children. We are looking to live in a Diverse community so we won't feel uncomfortable. Our price range is from $1250-$1550 per month. We are looking for an area with good schools, as well as good job opportunities.

Thx in advance,

Where in Georgia or the Atlanta area will your jobs be located?

In the Atlanta metro area, in particular, it is very important that one attempt to locate relatively close to where one will be working so that they can attempt to minimize as much as possible their commute times on Metro Atlanta's inadequate and overcapacity road network.

FYI, there's about as much racism around and outside of Atlanta as there is in Chicago. Smh.

Wow...how stereotypical. Have you ever been to the south? The south has actually come a long way since the 60s.
Anyways, do both of you already have jobs secured in Atlanta or are you both still looking?

Wow....it looks like Chicago has done you a disservice. As a 26yr. Old, you should visit this area before you use an outdated stereotype. That will get you nowhere fast here!

Your racial fears are greatly, profoundly exaggerated.

It is hard to really give such a thing an adequate numerical comparison, but I'm even pondering it might even be worse in Chicago in some ways.

With the neighborhoods there being so segregated, I often got the feeling many in Chicago weren't forced to confront any stereotypes they might have...even if not overt. Of course, that gives people safe harbor from ignoring a feeling and not outwardly act or say anything too.

I know the rural parts of the midwest aren't really better than Georgia at all.

I know by percentage points Georgia and the Atlanta MSA have almost double the amount of African Americans and they seem to be more disperse across suburban Atlanta, comparatively.

my father used to tell us as kids growing up that if you ask a stupid question, expect a stupid answer.
