JLA but I don't get it. OK, I don't remember how long ago this was. Maybe 2 years? But I went to that wal-mart off of Airport Thruway looking for something in particular. I asked someone where the nearest Super-Walmart is (because that one wasn't one) they told me Phenix City (I'm thinking, WHAT THE HELL, I'm in this big city and have to go to the next city JUST to go to SUPER WAL MART???). I know now its a Super Wal-Mart off Veterans in that large shopping center, and also it appears another is being built coming in from Macon off the Highway. But I'm just curious how is it that a city with nearly 200,000 is JUST NOW getting things that simple??? How can the mall be that small? How could have a city with that large of population have been surviving so long without these things?
I mean it just didn't seem to have a similar feel or as much things as other cities around its size like Greensboro, NC or Huntsville, Alabama |

Thanks for the compliment. Let's see, Macon, Savannah and Augusta are growing because?

Some places are not so crazy about Super Wal-Mart's or any Wal-Mart's. We have enough of those back woods, flea market types. Unfortunately they have built 3 of those crappy stores here and it's nothing to be proud of.

Macon is a hole. Columbus is bigger and better in every category....hands down.

ATLCOL1, it sounds more like wishful thinking for Columbus. What other HUB city in America with almost 200,000 people can Columbus compare to? Columbus has more in common with Macon...than it does other cities with its own population. Which is sad in itself. A city of almost 200,000 that barely even has interstate access.
All I'm saying is don't falsely advertise your city. When you get there it's not the same experience you'd expect for a city with that population. Say what you want but driving around Columbus you get no impression that it has 188,000+ people. Shopping,Entertainment, etc. I'm not saying Macon is special, I'm just saying stop talking about Columbus like it's all high and mighty over the other 2nd Tier cities because I'm sorry it is not. What does Columbus have that makes it more interesting than Augusta, Macon and Savannah? What tourism/entertainment does it have thats makes it SO more breathtaking than the other cities? Its a spread out city with a country vibe in the middle of nowhere. |

This mactown guy sounds like the same guy who posts similar nonsense about Augusta. It's seems like the cities with the biggest inferiority complexes have the biggest loudmouths on these forums.

I know right! He is apparently jealous of the progress of Columbus. Macon is 10 years behind Columbus is everything.

Tell me why you cannot answer my questions as to what makes Columbus SO much more desirable than the other 2nd Tier cities? Tourism/entertainment? CERTAINLY can't be that. Also tell me why Columbus can't compare to other cities around its same size?
It's boring to me, and Disgusta why are you acting like there is no good in Augusta? You can't say what I've said about Columbus isn't true. I would like to know why we are "10 Years" behind Columbus? It has just as much racism and an even SMALLER town vibe there. Come on now lets be real man! I highly doubt we are jealous of a place that isn't even thought of when you first hear someone say Columbus. (Ohio) If Columbus was doing so swell it would look/feel/have the same as Greensboro, NC, Huntsville, AL, or other cities around its size. No matter what you say, a city like Columbus still feels like nothing more than a stretched out Milledgeville or Dublin. Its Dull. Not that Macon is the best place on Earth, but its not THAT dull. |

Look, even as the younger person involved in this I feel I am the mature one, as it seems JLA and ATLCOL1 have to throw INSULTS directed at users to try and add strength to what ever point they are trying to express.
The problem is some of you guys get all defensive if someone says ANYTHING about your town that doesn't make it seem perfect. If my personal experience in Columbus led me to believe that Macon feels like more of a true city with more to do? Then thats MY opinion. How can you argue with me about my opinion? If someone says Macon was too dull for them, cool, thats their opinion. I wouldn't argue them down about their opinion like some of you guys do. The only time I feel the need to step in is when people try to exaggerate or lie in attempt to prove a point. For an example, a person from Columbus talking down on Macon because of our African-American poverty percentage when their's is only a couple percent lower? See that just doesn't make sense. It was just boring to me. Thats all. There are enough statistic throwing guys on this site that generalize and say rude things about an ENTIRE CITY and ITS PEOPLE, for you to seem so bothered by me simply saying that I found your town boring. I prefer Macon and you prefer Columbus, that's just the way it is and I'm leaving it at that. I was only explaining why I felt Columbus seemed so much smaller than it is. |
