There is no doubt racial tension in Atlanta.. as in most big urban areas.. but the local government has been able to transcend that for the most part.
Atlanta was able to put together a coalition of the business community (mostly white) and leaders of the black community...
I think of the Fall-line cities.. Columbus has been best able to approximate this type of coalition.
The racial power politics in Augusta and Macon (on both sides) are extreme.... much more so than anything in ATLANTA.

I'm sorry that you don't like our slow pace but we do. I was born and raised here and I wouldn't live in Atlanta and fight with the traffice and rude people there if you paid me. We may not have a fantastic skyline but fortunately we have the a very large city/country area to spread out therefore we don't find it necessary to build on top of one another. Oh, we have 3 malls, Peachtree, columbus Square Mall and Columbus Park Crossing. We have every restaurant, major store and anything else you would need to shop. We have a civic center and a Center of Performing Arts both which draw major entertainment including broadway shows and well known artists. We have a beautiful new library. Our state university is tops. If you are happy to live in some place like Atlanta with all the major crime and again the god awful traffic then go for it. At least in Columbus if you have a wreck people actually stop and help. Not so in Hotlanta. You can kiss you a** goodby if you are traveling on I-75,I-85 or I-285.

Well if you expect to walk around the corner and excitement just slaps you in the face, then yes Columbus is boring. There is plenty to do there to not be bored. You just have to find it.

The museum is being built over the old city garbage dump near Benning....not kidding really!!
It is just the mentality this city has had for so long....
Its called making progress and not just sitting around and letting things decay.

Haha you have no clue what you are talking about. Just because the school sytem is building a $30 million dollar office building you think it is in shambles. Columbus is ranked #1 or #2 as the best public high school in the state every year. We have lots of elementary schools and middle schools that are the best in Georgia.
