Hey all,

We are potentially relocating to GA. Our preliminary research looks like Peachtree City or Bogart area. Both would be in commutable distance for work. We have 2 high schoolers and the schools there look solid. Any feedback on living in these 2 areas is appreciated. Thanks.

The schools in both Peachtree City (in the Fayette County school system) and in Bogart (in the Oconee County school system) are solid.

But the issue is that there is a significant geographical difference between Peachtree City and Bogart.

Which one of those or any other community you might pick should depend on where in North Georgia you will be working.

Ideally, you will want to locate as close to work as is possible so that you can spare yourselves having to spend an inordinate amount of time in North Georgia's infamous rush hour and peak hour traffic congestion.

Where in North Georgia will you and/or any other members in your household be working?

Thanks. We will be working in the Conyers area. Any other suggested areas with good school systems are appreciated.the thinking was the commute from Bogart would be tolerable being east of Atlanta but I am just guessing at that.

Except for some delays on I-85 between GA Highway 74 and I-285, the rush hour commute to Conyers generally would not be that bad from either Bogart or Peachtree City.

Though exurban Oconee County (Bogart/Watkinsville) would most likely the best of the two options when deciding between Oconee County (Bogart/Watkinsville) and Peachtree City....That's because Oconee County schools are really good and highly regarded....And also because the commute between Oconee County (Bogart/Watkinsville) and Conyers would be a straight shot down US Highway 78 and GA Highway 138 with much less traffic than one would encounter on a rush hour commute closer to Atlanta.

Also, Bogart's close location to Athens means that you would have access to all of the amenities (retail, social, cultural, spectator sports, etc) of the Athens area.

If you wanted to look at some areas with good schools that are closer to where you will be working in Conyers, the places to look would be:

> On the Walton County side of the Loganville area in the clusters for Walnut Grove and Loganville high schools....Two good semi-rural outer-suburban areas with excellent schools...

> On the Gwinnett County side of the Loganville area in the cluster for Grayson High School...

> In the Lawrenceville area of Gwinnett County in the cluster for Archer High School...

> In the McDonough area of Henry County in the clusters for Union Grove and Ola high schools...

> In the Covington area of Newton County in the cluster for Eastside High School.

But Oconee County (Bogart/Watkinsville) would not necessarily be the worst living option if you are going to be commuting to and from work in Conyers each weekday.

If schools are your first priority, go with Oconee County / Bogart. The commute from PTC to Conyers will make your life miserable, quick.

I am from Conyers and would recommend staying away from Covington or Newton County in general if you have the option. I would personally look in Madison. You commute would be less than from Bogart and Morgan County schools are getting high marks these days. Not to mention that Madison is about a nice of a small town as there is.

Yes!!!! It is a LONG way from PTC to Conyers, and no convenient way to get there.
